Fandom Fest 2014

Fandom Fest 2014 was held in Louisville, KY this past weekend. The show was surrounded by a bit of controversy as several disgruntled fans who attended last year's show made their criticisms about the event's lack of coordination known, prompting the event's owner to respond publicly and vow to make this year's event better.

Since I wasn't at last year's show I have no way of knowing whether or not the promoters' made good on their promise but I will say the event was noticeably under-attended, with the lines for the celebrity guests who attended being incredibly short. Whether or not this was a result of the bad press from last year's show I'll likely never know but those fans who attended seemed to enjoy themselves with many saying this was their first convention.

San Diego Comic Con 2014

The biggest pop culture convention of the year has come and gone once again and while I usually find the four day long weekend to fly by when attending as a fan, this year I found myself working for a company exhibiting at the show. I didn't have much time to photograph the event or cosplayers at the show (or do much else beyond working at the booth) but what I did get was pretty choice.

Anime Expo 2014

So I attended Anime Expo in Los Angeles this past weekend. This is typically the one show I really look forward to each year and while I did enjoy myself, the massive crowds at this year's show really turned out to put a bit of a damper on the fun.

Lines were out of control and many panels started late, with the most notable delay being the Funimation panel on Saturday which didn't begin until about an hour after the announced start time. Still, one of the biggest draws for this con proved to be reason enough to fight through the over packed hallways of the Los Angeles Convention Center: the cosplay.
